TRILOGÍA THE LEGAL BRIEFS - EMMA CHASE

Overruled (The Legal Briefs, # 1)

Like every DC defense attorney, Stanton Shaw keeps a cool head, his questions are sharp, and his arguments irrefutable. They do not call him the Jury Enchantor for nothing. With his Southern accent, charming smile, and captivating green eyes, he is a man who is hard to say no to. Men want to be like him and women want to be interrogated thoroughly by him.
Stanton is a man with a plan. And for a time, life went according to that plan.
Until the day he receives an invitation to the wedding of his high school sweetheart and the mother of his beloved ten-year-old daughter. Jenny is getting married ... with someone who is not him.
That is definitely not part of the plan.
Sofia Santos grew up in the city, a sensible litigant who plans to become the most revered defense attorney in the country. She does not have time for relationships or distractions.
But when Stanton, her "friend with amazing benefits", asks for help, she finds herself outside her element, her strength, and, obviously, completely crazy. Because he agrees to go with him to the middle of nowhere (Mississippi) and do everything he can to help him get back the woman he loves.
Her head tells her that she is crazy ... but her heart says something else.
What happens when you mix a town with a single traffic light, two professional argumentators, a welcome dance queen, four older brothers, some Jimmy Dean sausages and a Nana holster?
The Bourbon flows, the passions rise and even the best plans are canceled by the desires of the heart.

- Sustained (The Legal Briefs, # 2)

A knight in tarnished armor is still a knight.
When you're a defense lawyer in Washington, DC, you see first-hand how hard life can be and sometimes the only way to survive is to be tough. I, Jake Becker, have a reputation for being cold, insensitive and intimidating and it is very good for me. In fact, it is necessary when I am questioning the witnesses on the stand.
Complications do not work for me, I'm a guy who "needs to know everything." If you are my client, tell me the basic facts. If you are my date, tell me what interests you. I'm not a therapist or a Prince Charming-and I do not pretend to be.
Then Chelsea McQuaid and her six orphaned nephews arrived and complicated my life. Now I go to Mom and I classes, One Direction concerts, the emergency room and arguing cases in the principal's office.
Chelsea is too sweet, innocent and beautiful for her own good. She tries to be tough, but she is not. She needs someone to help her, defend her ... and the children.
And that-that, I know how to do it.

- Appealed (The Legal Briefs, # 3)

When Brent Mason sees Kennedy Randolph, he does not see the clumsy and sweet girl who grew up next door. He sees a self-confident and impressive woman ... who wants to crush the most intimate, and appreciated, parts of his anatomy under the heels of his Christian Louboutins.
Brent has never allowed the loss of his leg in an accident in his childhood to affect his ability to lead a full life. He sets high goals and then achieves them.
And now he has his eyes on Kennedy.
***
When Kennedy looks at Brent Mason, all she sees is Abercrombie & Fitch's selfish and worthy teenage girl who humiliated her in high school to join the popular population. A population that turned those years into a living hell.
She is no longer an outcast socially sick of love, she is a DC prosecutor with a long winning streak behind her. Brent is the opposition lawyer in his next case and believes it is time to make him go through a small hell.
But things do not turn out exactly that way.
Because every intense exchange has her wondering if she is as passionate in the bedroom as she is in court. Each argument and objection only makes her want it even more. In the end, Brent and Kennedy can only be found in love ... or in contempt of court.
Appealed is a sexy romance with humor about the first crushes, the second chances and the final verdict of the heart.

- Sidebarred (The Legal Briefs, # 3.5)

There was a time when Jake Becker had everything fixed. He was controlling, determined, and ruthless, whether in or out of court.
But then, six irresistible orphans and her heartbreakingly beautiful aunt collided against her perfectly ordered life. They changed everything. They changed him. Now he is a husband, an honorable member of society, a father, the figure of the family. And he's very, very good at that.
Of course, he has to arbitrate in sibling fights, relearn algebra, make sure his clients stay out of jail, and keep his wife happy, but he finally feels like he has everything fixed again.
So, of course, something has to screw everything. Something huge. The kind of things that change the life. Scary.
